The Somali Youth Association (SoYA) was set up in 2003 as a voluntary community support service in response to the growing need amongst Somali Young people in Cardiff. SoYA has been providing support, training, advice & information on a wide range of issues and organising leisure & recreational activities to young people.
Somali Youth Association (SOYA) was founded by dedicated volunteers from the Somali community of Cardiff, who realise the growing needs of young Somali people of Cardiff. The need of these young people is ever increasing,so in response to their needs, SOYA has been providing appropriate and culturally catered support, training, advice and information on wide range of issues such as education, health, substance misuse, employment, benefts, housing, youth an life coaching and organising leisure and recreational activities for young people as a vehicle for a positive change.

- To advance the educational, cultural and social welfare of all Somali young people living, working or studying within Cardiff.
- To alleviate their exclusion, by advancing their skills and enabling them social and economic inclusion in society.
- To provide a platform for all Somali young people to associate together for the exchange of ideas and articulate shared concerns.
- To help overcome racial barriers and build bridges between the Somali community and the wider community.
- To advance the educational, cultural and social welfare of the Somali community as a whole, in particular the younger generation.
- To develop their skills and self confidence, to enable them participate useful in economic activity.
- To promote their health and well-being through the provision of leisure and other activities.
- To promote the values of equality, citizenship, leadership and volunteering among the younger generation.
- To build the capacity of the organisation and consolidate its resource base.
- To enhance the Somali community in Cardiff by being a robust and trusted organisation working in partnership.
- To progress the community towards a more secure future particularly for the younger generation to facilitate inclusion in society.
